Garbett Point Trek

Garbett Plateau Garbett Point or Garbett Plateau is part of the Matheran hill range. This beautiful plateau, near the Matheran hills, is a very nice getaway during winters, though it is super chilly at the top of the plateau. We did this trek with Travel Buffs. This was out first trek with this group. We did this trek during Feb month this year. We started our trek by taking a local to the Bhivpuri Station. There were supposed to be 4 people besides the group leader but only we two finally reached the station. So we left from there with our trek leaders. This was a night trek to the top of the plateau, view the sunrise on top and then go via the Matheran route to Dasturi Naka. Diksal Lake from top We left from the station towards the lake some distance from Bhivpuri station. The lake is known as Dhom lake or Diksal lake. The lake itself is beautiful and is a visiting spot. This place is also used for night camping by trekkers and we were able to some trekkers there. We wen

Gorakhgadh Fort Trek

Gorakhgadh Peak Gorakhgadh lies near the Dehri village in the Murbad tehsil, Thane district. Gorakhgadh is a moderately tough trek in terms of terrain as well adventure. We did this trek in in early months of this year. Also, if this trek is done in night it becomes even more challenging due to the rocky trail and boulders on the trail at many places. All the pics in the blog are mostly during the return trail when there was day light. We did this trek with Travel Buffs and our group was around 10-12 people big. Everyone assembled at Kalyan station. From here we were supposed to take a bus to Murbad but seeing the super overcrowded bus stand, no one could summon the courage to even try to attempt to get on that bus. Since we missed the 11:00 pm bus and the next bus was not soon enough, we decided to take a private jeep. From Kalyan station we went to Murbad. Here we changed Jeeps to reach the Dehri village which is the base village for the Gorakhgadh Trek. Starting point - T

Our trek started from the Dadar Station which was meeting point for all the people. We left the Dadar station around 11 via a private bus. The destination was Bari village at the base of Kalsubai mountain. We reached the village around 5 in the morning. We had light breakfast at the base village. The weather was very nice with clouds and slight drizzling. The base village was crowded with a lot of trekkers and trekking groups. We could also see a couple of school trips also happening the same day. While we were waiting for every

Tungareshwar Hill Trek

Balyogi Ashram on top of Tungareshwar Hill Tungareshwar Hill is located in Vasai. It is located at a distance of 29 kms from Vasai Station and around 70 kms from Powai, from where we left. It has an altitlde of around 2200 feet. Many people say that it is a twin of Matheran and it would not be wrong to say that as it actually look like a Matheran Trek. Trekking trail We left from our home around 9:30 am in morning and comfortably reached around 11:15 near the parking on Tungareshwar temple road (it is small street off from the main highway). One can easily identify it from the arch build on the entrance of the road. Paid parking is available or one can also take their vehicle all the way to the top as there is a dirt and muddy road (5-7 feet wide). People enjoying in stream We started our trek from the parking. There were a lot of people as it was a holiday on account of Independence Day and also being a Tuesday a lot of people were visiting the Temple and water casc

Tringalwadi Fort Trek

Tringalwadi Fort So we are back with a new treklog after a long break. Some previous ones are also pending which I will be sharing later this month. This trek was to the beautiful hills hosting the ruins of Tringalwadi Fort. It is considered to be a 10th century fort built to monitor trade routes to present day Nashik. In terms natural beauty it was outstanding, specially because of the rainy weather and all the cloudy atmosphere. From the perspective of difficulty level the trek was very easy, though made a little bit dangerous because of rain. Breakfast en route We did this trek with trekking group Travel Buffs . This was our third trek with this group and we enjoyed every bit like last two times. The trek started by everyone assembling at Kasara station around 9:30 am. from there we took two jeeps to base village of Talawadi. We had breakfast on the way to Talawadi. Tringalwadi Lake Half of the distance to the base village is via a highway so it was pretty smoo
